Good Morning, everyone! We’re still (barely) in January of the new year and great things are still happening! I’m sure you all have a ton of great things to celebrate this year: babies, birthdays, engagements, weddings, retirements, and more! Unfortunately, here’s one not so exciting but extremely important thing to keep in mind while you are planning and budgeting. As of yesterday (January 27) postage has increased AGAIN!
Lucky for us, Annie over at Perfect Postage, quickly put together a great image of the 2013 postage rates for all types of mail possibilities! Note that your regular 1st class piece of mail and postcards are only up by one cent.

Other things to keep in mind:
- For showers and parties, invitations should be sent out 2-3 weeks in advance
- For weddings where a Save The Date was sent, invitations should be mailed 6 weeks in advance
- For weddings where a Save The Date was not sent, invitations should be mailed 8 weeks in advance
- Be sure to include a stamp on all reply cards (don’t expect your guest to pay for their own postage.)
Did you remember to count postage into your wedding or party budget? Did you opt for custom designed stamps or just the stamps already provided by the post office?

seriously, postage is so expensive! I think we may say no to save the dates because of that!
Hey Nikki!
That’s definitely an option. You could also opt for postcard save the dates – while they are still .33 cents to mail out, they are cheaper than something in a .46 cent envelope OR a heavier item (like a magnet) that could increase postage amount too.
Keep in mind that if you opt for no save the dates, invitations should be sent out at least eight weeks in advance to give everyone enough notice on their travel to Pittsburgh :)
I will DEFINITELY keep that in mind. Thanks for the tips…I have a feeling I may be asking you a thing or two throughout this process :)
great information! I never knew that postcards cost less! Very interesting. I’m still a fan of my magnet save the dates though!
