The Bride: Ashley
The Groom: Joe
Joe and I met soon after I moved to West Palm Beach for work as a producer at a local television station. Joe had previously worked in tv as well, as an on-air meteorologist. He was out of the business by then, but knew a few people who worked at my station. One of those friends asked me to go out one night, and mentioned that his friend Joe would be coming with a girl, so he didn’t want to be a third wheel. I didn’t want to go, but didn’t want this friend to feel awkward, so I begrudgingly went. Long story short, Joe’s date didn’t want to go either, so Joe showed up alone- we hit it off- and we’ve been together ever since!
Early in 2012, Joe suggested we take a vacation. We had been to Palm Springs together and loved it, so he suggested we plan another trip to southern California. We planned to go to Palm Springs and San Diego. On our first night at our amazing bed and breakfast in San Diego, he tried over and over again to convince me that we should go for a hike to see the sunset. (I should have suspected something!) We hiked up this awesome trail overlooking the Pacific Ocean, and right as the sun was about to slip into the water, he got down on one knee and popped the question. As it turns out, the entire trip was a setup to get me to that exact spot! Joe had been in San Diego for work a few months before suggesting the trip, and says he instantly knew that’s the exact spot he wanted our engagement to happen. Oddly enough, I had saved a picture he sent me on that first trip as the background on my computer, because it was so gorgeous. Little did I know I’d be back there several months later, the happiest I’d ever been!
