Hi All – Bear with me in the lack of some inspiration this week, as well as this blubber of a post that I just had to put together to share with all of you. Recently in my Feedly I came across a theme of great posts from some of my favorite wedding blogs. These bloggers, all members of The Love Collective shared their “day in the life” of a wedding blogger: Lauren of Every Last Detail, Alexandra of Heart Love Weddings, Sara of Burnett’s Boards, Christie of MountainSide Bride, Cris at Kiss My Tulle and Jessica at The Budget Savvy Bride. While I am not a member of The Love Collective (however, my membership application is being reviewed) I’d like to share my day with you as well.
I (Stephanie, 23 years old, lover of laughing, giraffes, shoes and celebrating) run The Event Crashers on a “part time” basis as a one-woman-band. I throw the quotes in there because I often see myself spending more time here during the week than I do at my full time job. That full time job requires me to currently work third shift, so from midnight to 8am during the weekdays I’m off providing the finest in television news to viewers in the Susquehanna Valley, Pa. I balance my days between catching up on sleep, heading to the gym or doing work for my planning clients with Stylish Occasions or our dj clients with DJC Productions. Which basically means that 24 hours a day I am replying to emails, working up quotes, researching vendors, writing posts, editing photos and layouts, scheduling posts, reviewing submissions (via Two Bright Lights) and networking…just to name a few tasks. My average blog post takes an hour to put together once the photos are downloaded, organized and boards created. Then there’s writing, promoting, sharing, and more. What’s the take away here? I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Event Crashers is still a baby – not yet one! (But, be on the look out for a TON of great things in July to celebrate our one year blogiversary!) And there’s a lot of things that I’m still learning. A LOT. But I’m going to continue to do so because I’m so passionate and so in love with this industry and the amazing vendors, bloggers, readers, brides and fellow-celebrators out there. Nothing makes me happier than seeing how excited photographers get when their work is featured on TEC, or when I send a bride an email sharing the feature news and she’s ecstatic.
While I take care of all the submissions, posts, promoting and more, there are still some people who are very responsible for The Event Crashers being alive. First of those is Gregg – my longest friend, one of the best friends a girl could ask for and by far the hardest working freelance web guy ever around. If it weren’t for him, TEC would look ridiculous, wouldn’t have its’ own hosting and basically wouldn’t be as cool as it is right now. All the incredible things in the works for July… those are pretty possible thanks to Gregg too, so remember that when you see them in a few months! And seriously, if you’re looking for web-things, let me know, I’ll put you in touch! Gregg, thank you, thank you, thank you! The second of those most important people is Joe. The most amazing, supportive, loving, understanding boyfriend in the world. I know all the time and effort that goes into TEC drives him crazy sometimes, and I’m pretty certain he’s tired of hearing “I need to test this out for the blog!” but he’s such a trooper day in and day out. I love you! Last, but certainly not least, my Momma Bear and Padre are basically the best – after dealing with “empty nest syndrome” when I never came home after my sophomore year of college, they continue to encourage me to chase my dreams, live with passion, fight for what I believe in and never ever give up. It is thanks to them that even on the hardest of days I trudge though and continue one step at a time. Words can not express my thanks for your continued love and support, through every one of my endeavors.
What this all comes down to… is that my “day in the life” is absolutely far from the time constraints of a typical day and that I felt like it was time to get a little more personal and a lot more transparent with my amazing readers. So if I miss a post one day, I’m sorry. If you didn’t receive a reply to an email, facebook post or tweet – tell me! I want to make sure it didn’t get lost or I just didn’t forget. If you want to see more of something, seriously let me know! I am so looking forward to all of the exciting things coming to us in the months ahead and I’m so excited for what’s to come in the next few years until I too can bring you full time daily (or even multiple daily) inspirations!
